With 2 more days till the big race I'm both excited and nervous.

There are some moments in my day though, where the 89km race hits me and I'm filled with fear, unfounded stomach cramps and what some people refer to as a "sphincter tightening moment"

I'll see you all next week ... most likely, walking like I've spent the weekend behind bars.

Brilliant song recommendation is "Heart on Fire" a bands called "Scars on 45" ... the whole album is excellent ... check them out.

Don't be lazy

Quite a few people irritated me today.

These are just 2 of them.

Fought with the lady at SARS who does VAT applications, who despite not having the highest level of intelligence, does understand the VAT act. (its what she does all day)

She assumes that I should know if my application is a "voluntary" or "compulsory" application.

GP "what's the difference?"
Horrible lady with bad hair "you should know you're the owner"
GP "just explain the difference"

....

Lots of time passes and we settled on "compulsory" - I'm still not sure why or if it's right. (and I still don't know the difference between the 2)

Then on the way home I decide on some sushi. Nicely laid out in the box (mayo and those seed thingies perfectly decorated).

They then put the price on top of the box. Super idea. That way the client can easily see the price.

When paying for my groceries the second muppet lady in my day today, turns the whole box on its side to scan the price on the top.

This is the result.

The Good Ol' Days

One of the things about getting older, is that you start to say things that your parents used to say.

"Gee-wizz, how your kids have grown".

"Remember
we used to be able to buy a movie ticket chocolate and a coke for R20.00"

The thing is that everything progresses, and our kids are going to access to technology that for us seems well beyond our understanding. My grandparent could not understand the idea of an ATM - "so you put the money in the bank in Cape Town, how does it get to Jo'burg so quickly?"

Look at the following 2 ideas of how things may be for us in the not to distant future.

The first is a project by Google integrating your real world and the online world ... its called "Google Glasses"

The next is a prediction of what future iphones may be like ...

Quite some progress from my radical and cutting edge first Nokia.

Now you're just somebody that I used to know ...

An awesome version of Gotye's "Somebody that I used to know ... " which uses the classic - Baa Baa Black Sheep riff.
